Favorite Potato Chips

As much as I’ve admired Pringles (and still do for their shape alone, plus their distinctive unnatural flavor), for years my favorite potato chip has been Zapp’s Spicy Cajun Crawtators. I first found them at Zingerman’s when I was an undergrad at the University of Michigan. Crawtators, fried in a little chippery in Gramercy, Louisiana, are satisfyingly spicy, with a deep crunch and deep potatoey taste.

But recently, while in London, I became obsessed with Tyrrells. The people behind this company are all about true potato chip goodness. They grow and harvest their potatoes on a farm in Herefordshire, then fry them by hand to ensure maximum freshness. The inventive flavors, some only available seasonally, are instantly addictive. So far I’ve only had the chance to try Spicy Jalapeno Chilli & Lemon, Mature Cheddar & Chives, and Sweet Chilli & Red Pepper (the latter is particularly sublime, and my favorite so far). I’d love to get my hands on the Thai Curry & Coriander, Ludlow Sausage & Wholegrain Mustard, Asparagus & Crushed Black Pepper, and the Game Chips with Duck, Orange & Ginger.

Update: Tyrrells now seems to be available at most Whole Foods stores. If you're in the Chicago area you can also find them at Fox & Obel and Trotter's To Go.

Although it is a commercialized taste, I love the Doritos brand Jalapeno Cheddar chips. I'm not sure if the chips are always available in stores, but when they are, the blend of an old familiar cheese flavor combined with a light spiciness brings back childhood memories for me. By the way, my College class is reading "Stealing Buddha's Dinner" and I love the food metaphors.
Bon Appetit!

First of all I would like to tell you that I absolutely love your writing style. Second, I love your book. I am able to relate to it wonderfully and I enjoy all of the hidden messages. As for your choice of favorite chips, I have to disagree. You ave not tried chips until yu've eaten Big Island Taro Chips. They are amazing, salty and sweet, talk about a treat for your mouth! Being born and raised in Hawaii I get these chips all the time and they nver get old. I think you should come down to Hawaii and visit, I can almost guarantee that you won't be disappointed. If you do happen to come down please visit my class, we are currently reading your book and enjoying every minute and we woud love to talk to you in person.

Sincrely,
Darlin

My favorite kind of chips that I favor is the Maui Style Potato Chips. I love it's hard crusty texture and salty bite taste. Whenever I bite into a Maui Style chip it's like when your having a conversation with someone you totally can't hear the other person saying! The chip is so hard and crunchy that you have to take a second to stop eating to hear what the other person is talking about. I love a chip that's very crunchy and has a bold flavor to it. Your descriptions of food in your book made me interested in trying out the Vietnamese foods. Thank your for opening up my horizon of wonderful foods I can venture out and enjoy! :]

Salt and Vinegar is ultimately my favorite type of chips. The smell can get to me at times but I can never resist. It is the combination of the salty and the vinegary flavors that make it so addicting. Once I decide to open that bag, there is no turning back. I have no choice but to finish every bit, head titled back, mouth wide open and the shacking of the bag over my mouth.
The funny thing is, i never thought that such a combination could be as good as it is. It's pure genius I tell you! Thank you salt and vinegar chips inventor. Or is it Lays Brand chips.

The potato chip is as American as apple pie, which can be good or bad. With almost every packed lunch for work you will find a bag of chips. People love the taste, texture and affordability of potato chips, that’s just a fact.

The photographer must know what the product will be after its completion of project. So, the photograph and actual product should match. Real estate photography makes a difference that good photos can make in the process of house for sale.
